Me Before You

A closer look at the story

Twenty-six-year-old Louisa Clark lives in the English countryside and has little sense of direction in life. After losing her job at a café, she is hired as carer and companion to Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker who lives at the local castle. Once adventurous and full of life, Will has been confined to a wheelchair since a motorcycle accident two years earlier and has all but lost his will to enjoy anything. At first Will looks down on Lou, but she is resolved to prove to him that his life still has value, and the closeness that grows between them will change them both. Directed by Thea Sharrock from Jojo Moyes's adaptation of her own novel, the 110-minute 2016 film stars Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin in an emotional romantic drama.
