Caught Stealing

A closer look at the story

Hank Thompson is a burned-out former baseball star who once had a bright future ahead of him. In late-1990s New York, he leads a quiet life out of the spotlight. Everything changes when a neighbour asks him for a simple favour: to look after his cat while he is away. This small kindness, which Hank agrees to without a second thought, suddenly hurls him into the middle of the city's criminal underworld. Without even knowing why he has been targeted, he is pulled into a tangle of dangerous criminals and murky vendettas. To survive, he has to call on abilities he left behind years ago and find his way through an underworld he never knew existed. Directed by Darren Aronofsky and adapted by Charlie Huston from his own novel, this 107-minute 2025 crime thriller stars Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz and Matt Smith.
