One Battle After Another

A closer look at the story

Bob is a man with little left of his revolutionary past, living permanently stoned and paranoid. He gets by off the grid, far from prying eyes, and his only anchor is his energetic, self-reliant daughter Willa. But the past refuses to let go: after 16 years, Bob's ruthless arch-enemy reappears, and soon afterwards Willa vanishes. The ex-radical throws himself desperately into the search for her. His former revolutionary comrades, who went their separate ways years ago, also regroup to rescue the missing girl. Father and daughter alike are forced to face the price of what Bob did in the past. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and adapted from a Thomas Pynchon novel, the 162-minute 2025 film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Chase Infiniti, Benicio del Toro and Regina Hall in a darkly comic crime thriller.
