A closer look at the story

The year is 1935. Ten years have passed since their first adventure, and Rick and Evelyn O'Connell are married and living in London with their young son, Alex. Danger knocks again when the family discovers the Bracelet of Anubis, which holds the secret of the mythical Scorpion King's power. Imhotep's mummified body is brought to a museum in London, and Imhotep is brought back to life. Imhotep wants the bracelet too, and to command the unearthly army of Anubis he does not hesitate to kidnap Alex, who now wears it. The O'Connells set out on a new adventure to rescue their son and avert a catastrophe that could change the fate of the world. Written and directed by Stephen Sommers, the 130-minute 2001 film stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, John Hannah and Arnold Vosloo in an adventure film.
