Mufasa: The Lion King

A closer look at the story

Young Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, hears the legend of her grandfather Mufasa through Rafiki. Told in flashbacks, the tale returns to a time when Mufasa was a lost, lonely orphaned cub. One day Mufasa meets Taka, a kind-hearted young lion born into a royal line. This chance encounter sets a remarkable band of misfits, all searching for their destiny, off on a great journey. The friendships formed along the way face a severe test when they are forced to work together to escape a menacing, deadly enemy. The journey also reveals how Mufasa became the one who would later be remembered as the Lion King. Directed by Barry Jenkins and written by Jeff Nathanson, this 118-minute 2024 animation features Aaron Pierre as the voice of Mufasa and Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka.
