The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

A closer look at the story

SpongeBob is tired of being seen as a little guy; all he wants is to be recognised as someone big and brave. He decides that the best way to make that dream come true is to show his boss, Mr. Krabs, just how courageous he is. To do so, he picks a rather perilous path: tagging along after the Flying Dutchman, an enigmatic, swashbuckling phantom pirate. That choice sweeps SpongeBob into a whole new adventure on the high seas. Trailing the Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob heads down towards the darkest, most remote reaches of the ocean floor, arriving in places no sponge has ever set foot. Directed by Derek Drymon and written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman, this 88-minute 2025 animated adventure features Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Mark Hamill as the Flying Dutchman and Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs.
