Project Hail Mary

A closer look at the story

Science teacher Ryland Grace opens his eyes on board a spacecraft unimaginably far from Earth, unable to remember his own name or how he ended up there. As his memories return piece by piece, he begins to grasp the scale of the task resting on his shoulders: unravelling the secret of a mysterious substance that is causing the Sun to fade. If he fails, everything on Earth will perish. To save humanity, Grace must draw on all his scientific knowledge and his unconventional ideas. On this journey, however, an unexpected friendship will show him that he does not have to carry the burden alone. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller direct Drew Goddard's script, based on the book by Andy Weir; the 157-minute 2026 film stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller in a science-fiction adventure.
