The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book: Mowgli's last journey through the jungle
A closer look at the story
Found as a baby and raised by wolves, Mowgli has spent his whole life in the wild. When word comes that the ruthless tiger Shere Khan has returned, the wise panther Bagheera decides to take him to the man-village where he will be safe. On a journey the boy has no wish to make, Mowgli meets a string of unforgettable characters, from Baloo, a carefree bear who loves the simple pleasures of life, to Kaa, a mesmerising snake, and Louie, the self-proclaimed king of the apes. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's stories and directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, the 1967 Disney animation is a warm family film about friendship and belonging, carried by jazzy songs and gentle humour.
