G.O.R.A.

A closer look at the story

Arif sells carpets to tourists in Antalya and likes to entertain people with his obsession with aliens, helped along by flying-saucer photos he has faked himself. One day the fantasy comes true in the least convenient way: he is taken from Earth and held captive on a distant planet called GORA. There his quick tongue and street-level cunning run up against the schemes of the planet's ruthless commander, Logar, while Princess Ceku takes an interest in the stranger. Directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak and written by Cem Yılmaz, who also plays several roles, the 2004 Turkish film features Özge Özberk, Ozan Güven and Şafak Sezer in a comedy adventure that plays affectionately with science-fiction clichés.
