Atashin'chi
Atashin'chi: The funny days of an ordinary Japanese family
Original title: あたしンち
A closer look at the story
Atashin'chi is an animated series that portrays everyday life in a "normal" Japanese household with gentle, cheerful humour. At its centre are the Tachibanas. The family is made up of a stay-at-home mother, a father who works as a company employee and their two teenagers, Mikan and Yuzuhiko. Rather than grand adventures or extraordinary events, the series focuses on the small, familiar moments any family might experience. First shown on tv asahi in 2002, with 699 episodes over three seasons, the anime features Kumiko Watanabe as the voice of the mother, Fumiko Orikasa as Mikan, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Yuzuhiko and Kenichi Ogata as the father.
