Corpse Bride

Corpse Bride: A ring on the wrong finger

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

In a nineteenth-century European village, the timid Victor Van Dort is about to marry Victoria, though he does not feel ready for it. Rehearsing his vows alone before the wedding, he slips the ring onto what turns out to be the finger of a dead woman, and suddenly finds himself in the realm of the dead as the husband of a mysterious bride. Unlike the grey, gloomy village of the living, this underworld is colourful and lively, yet Victoria is still waiting for him above. Directed by Tim Burton and Mike Johnson and written by John August, Caroline Thompson and Pamela Pettler, the 77-minute 2005 stop-motion film features the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Emily Watson in an eerie, romantic fairy tale.
