Pokémon

A closer look at the story

Ash Ketchum has just one dream: to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world, a Pokémon Master. Pokémon are small, animal-like creatures that people can catch and train. Those who develop these creatures' powers and pit them against each other in battles are known as Pokémon trainers. Together with his most loyal friend and travelling companion, Pikachu, Ash sets off after his dream. On a journey that takes him from region to region, he makes new friends, comes up against tough rivals and faces a fresh challenge every time. He soon realises that being a Pokémon trainer is not only about having fun; it also means important responsibilities towards his little companions. And so begins a never-ending adventure for Ash. Launched on TV Tokyo in 1997 and running to 1,235 episodes over 25 seasons, this legendary anime features Ikue Otani as the voice of Pikachu.
