Get Out
Get Out: A welcome that is far too warm
A closer look at the story
Chris Washington travels upstate with his girlfriend, Rose Armitage, to spend a weekend at her family's home and meet her parents. As a young Black man, he is uneasy about how her white family will receive him. Rose's mother Missy and father Dean could hardly be friendlier, and at first Chris puts their eagerness down to awkward attempts to accept their daughter's relationship. As the weekend goes on, though, the oddities he notices in the house and among the people around it become more and more disturbing. Written and directed by Jordan Peele, the 2017 film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford in a sharp horror thriller about racism.
