A closer look at the story

Latif is a hitman with a deep religious faith. His life is caught between three great responsibilities that pull against each other: his work, his faith and his role as a father. Trying to keep these in balance becomes harder with each passing day. Then his wife dies, and everything falls apart. After this loss, Latif has just one aim: to protect his children. That goal sends him on a desperate journey that stretches across Houston. Along the way, Latif has to confront not only the dangerous forces closing in around him but also the beliefs that are beginning to unravel inside him. Written and directed by Bassam Tariq, this 112-minute 2026 crime drama stars Mahershala Ali as Latif, with John Cho and Giancarlo Esposito also in the cast.
