Brother Bear

A closer look at the story

The story takes place long ago, before Europeans had reached the New World. The older brother of the rash, headstrong young Kenai loses his life in an encounter with a bear protecting her cubs. Wanting to teach the vengeful Kenai a lesson, the Great Spirits magically transform him into a bear. Forced to see the world through a bear's eyes, Kenai sets off on a brave and often zany journey with the lovable cub Koda, whom he meets along the way, the comic moose Rutt and Tuke and the other creatures of the forest. That journey will teach him the most valuable lessons about life. Directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker, the 85-minute 2003 animated film, voiced by Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez and Rick Moranis, is an emotional family adventure.
