A closer look at the story

The year is 1955 and the place is Detroit. Under mysterious circumstances, a handful of criminals who barely know one another are assembled and offered what sounds like a pretty simple job. Their task is to get into a house and get hold of an important document. The pay is good, the risk looks low and nobody imagines there could be anything more to it. Before long, however, the plan goes completely sideways. As things spiral out of control, the criminals start to suspect they have been set up. To survive and work out who has double-crossed them, and why, these men who do not trust each other have no choice but to work together. What began as the simple theft of a document turns out to be part of a much bigger game. Steven Soderbergh directs from Ed Solomon's screenplay in this 115-minute 2021 crime thriller stars Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, David Harbour and Jon Hamm.
