The Departed

A closer look at the story

To bring down the Irish mob that has South Boston in its grip, along with its boss Costello, the police place one of their own undercover inside the organisation. What they do not know is that the gang has made the same move and planted its own man in the force. While the undercover officer works to win the gangster's trust, the mob's man rises quickly through the police ranks. Before long both sides realise there is an informer among them, and a deadly race begins for each man to unmask the other before his own identity is exposed. Directed by Martin Scorsese and written by William Monahan, this 151-minute 2006 picture stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg in a crime thriller.
