The Intouchables

A closer look at the story

Philippe, a wealthy aristocrat, has been left paralysed from the neck down after a paragliding accident. Looking for someone to provide round-the-clock care, he hires Driss, a young man from the housing projects who has only recently come out of prison and has no job to speak of, and asks him to live in. In that large house, the two men from completely different worlds clash at first, then begin to bring an unexpected lightness and nerve into each other's lives. Inspired by a true story and written and directed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, the 2011 film stars François Cluzet and Omar Sy in a friendship story that balances humour with warmth.
