The Purge: Election Year

A closer look at the story

Two years have passed since Leo Barnes decided at the last moment to spare his son's killer. The former police sergeant now heads security for Senator Charlene Roan. Roan is the front-runner in the presidential race because she has vowed to abolish the Purge, the one night a year when all crime is permitted. On the night that should be the last Purge, however, a betrayal from inside the government throws Barnes and Roan onto the streets with no protection. The pair must struggle to survive the city's most dangerous night until morning. James DeMonaco once more writes and directs; this 109-minute 2016 film stars Frank Grillo, Elizabeth Mitchell and Mykelti Williamson in an action thriller.
