KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

In the near future, boxing belongs not to people but to giant robots trained by them. Charlie Kenton, a former boxer who was forced out once machines replaced human fighters, now scrapes a living fighting robots, and things are not going well. When his latest machine is smashed to pieces, he reluctantly teams up with Max, the son he has been estranged from for years. Together father and son decide to rebuild and train a new robot, and they head into the ring with a contender nobody gives a chance. Directed by Shawn Levy and written by John Gatins, the 127-minute 2011 film stars Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly and Anthony Mackie in an emotional science-fiction drama.
