The Art of Racing in the Rain

A closer look at the story

Enzo is no ordinary family dog. With a soul that is almost human and the mind of a philosopher, Enzo looks back on everything he has lived through. At the heart of these reflections is his owner and closest friend, the race-car driver Denny Swift. Enzo has watched closely the lessons Denny has learned on the racetrack and in life itself, and has turned them into a philosophy of his own. As the family grows, with Eve and later Zoë entering Denny's life, Enzo becomes the quiet but all-seeing witness to this journey. Happiness, hardship and love take on a whole new meaning in Enzo's telling. Directed by Simon Curtis and adapted from Garth Stein's novel, this 109-minute 2019 drama features Kevin Costner as the voice of Enzo, with Milo Ventimiglia and Amanda Seyfried in the cast.
