Frankenstein

A closer look at the story

Dr. Victor Frankenstein is a brilliant but arrogant, obsessive and lonely scientist. Driven by the deep pain of losing those he loved, Victor decides to push past the boundaries of death and embarks on a monstrous experiment in which he creates a new being out of lifeless matter. The Creature that results may strike fear into people with its appearance, but in mind and heart it is as pure and fragile as a child. When it encounters the outside world for the first time, it is shunned, scorned and met with violence because of the way it looks. With every rejection it drifts a little further from its innocence, slowly sinking into the darkness of rage and revenge. Guillermo del Toro's 150-minute adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel, released in 2025, is a gothic horror drama in which Oscar Isaac plays Victor and Jacob Elordi plays the Creature.
