Mr. & Mrs. Smith

A closer look at the story

Mr. & Mrs. Smith centres on a city couple who could hardly look more ordinary. John and Jane Smith's marriage has slowly lost its spark, and both of them are struggling to keep their dull life together going. Each of them, however, is guarding an enormous secret from the other: John and Jane are both highly paid, exceptionally gifted assassins employed by competing agencies. Living under the same roof, neither has any idea what the other really does for a living. Then one day each receives the same target: their own spouse. The unexpected assignment injects a dangerous new thrill into their relationship. As they unleash their deadly talents against one another, the pair put their marriage through the toughest test it has ever faced. Doug Liman directed this 120-minute action comedy from 2005, an American-Swiss production written by Simon Kinberg. Angelina Jolie plays Jane and Brad Pitt plays John, with Vince Vaughn, Adam Brody and Kerry Washington also in the cast.
