A closer look at the story

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is set in 1938. An art collector approaches the renowned archaeologist Indiana Jones and asks for his help in finding the legendary Holy Grail. Indy soon discovers that the medieval scholar who disappeared while hunting for it is in fact Henry Jones Sr., Indy's father. Before vanishing, his father had sent him a notebook packed with clues and a map relating to the Grail. Following its trail, Indy heads to Venice with the museum curator Marcus Brody, where he gains the help of the striking academic Dr. Elsa Schneider and of Sallah. It quickly becomes clear that the Nazis are hunting the Grail as well. Indy now has two missions, to rescue his father and to stop the secret of eternal life from falling into Nazi hands. This 1989 adventure, 127 minutes long, was directed by Steven Spielberg from Jeffrey Boam's script. Harrison Ford plays Indiana Jones and Sean Connery plays his father, Henry, with Denholm Elliott, Alison Doody and John Rhys-Davies also in the cast.
