Triangle of Sadness

A closer look at the story

Celebrity model couple Carl and Yaya are invited on a holiday aboard an ultra-luxurious cruise ship reserved for the super-rich. On board, everything looks like a flawless postcard ready to be posted online: champagne, fine food, sun-drenched decks. At the helm, however, is an alcoholic captain who has lost all control. When a storm breaks, the voyage that began so pleasantly turns into disaster. Carl and Yaya end up stranded on a deserted island with a group of billionaires and one of the ship's cleaning staff. There, money and fame lose their value in an instant; as who is useful for survival gets decided all over again, the social hierarchy begins to turn upside down. Written and directed by Ruben Östlund, this 147-minute 2022 black comedy brings together Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean, Dolly de Leon and Woody Harrelson.
