The Phoenician Scheme

A closer look at the story

Zsa-zsa Korda is an extremely rich and charismatic businessman around whom strange things keep happening. He has survived several plane crashes in a row under murky circumstances, and evidence is mounting fast that these were not accidents but attacks aimed at destroying him and his life's work. Under the shadow of these threats, Korda makes an unexpected decision: he names his only daughter, Liesl, a nun who has turned her back on the world, as the sole heir to his fortune. The relationship between father and daughter, however, is extremely fragile. When Korda launches a bold new venture, father and daughter become the quarry of plotting business rivals, foreign terrorists and relentless hitmen. The risky journey they undertake together brings unresolved family conflicts to the surface and tests loyalties that have lasted for years. Wes Anderson's 102-minute 2025 comedy adventure, which he also wrote, stars Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera and Tom Hanks.
