The Girl Next Door
The Girl Next Door: The love that upends an ambitious student's life
A closer look at the story
Matthew is a fiercely ambitious high school student who dreams of a brilliant career in politics. Because he pours all his attention into finishing school successfully, he has next to no social life. His world changes the day he meets Danielle, his beautiful, innocent-looking neighbour. A romance quickly blossoms between them, and for the first time Matthew realises that life is about more than just goals. Danielle's past, however, is not as innocent as it seems: Matthew learns that the girl he loves was once a porn star. The revelation puts the future he has so carefully planned at risk. As Danielle's past keeps catching up with her, Matthew finds that his love for her is making him rethink his ambitions. Directed by Luke Greenfield, the 110-minute 2004 film stars Emile Hirsch, Elisha Cuthbert and Timothy Olyphant in a romantic comedy.
