Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

A closer look at the story

Riggan is an actor who found fame years ago playing a popular superhero, but whose best days are long behind him. To revive his career, he sets out to stage a play on Broadway. When one of the leading actors is injured during rehearsals, Mike Shiner, once a much-loved star, joins the cast. As opening night draws closer, Riggan's attempts to save his career, mend his bond with his daughter Sam, who works as his assistant, and make peace with those around him prove far harder than he expected. Directed and co-written by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the 120-minute 2014 film stars Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Emma Stone and Zach Galifianakis in a darkly comic drama.
