The Suicide Squad

A closer look at the story

Belle Reve is the prison where supervillains are held, and it has one of the highest death rates of any jail. From among inmates willing to risk anything to get out, Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, the shark-man King Shark and a bunch of other oddball cons are drafted into Task Force X, an outfit as secret as it is shady. Armed and sent on a do-or-die assignment, the team is dropped onto the remote, enemy-infested island of Corto Maltese. Colonel Rick Flag leads them in the field, while Amanda Waller watches every step from afar, and a single order from her can finish anyone who steps out of line. James Gunn wrote and directed this 132-minute 2021 film, which stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena and Joel Kinnaman in an antihero action film full of black humour.
