A closer look at the story
Fourteenth-century England is going through a dark era ravaged by war and plague. Ordinary people carry the burden of seemingly endless conflict while also struggling against the devastation caused by a deadly epidemic. In this hopeless climate, a humble peasant refuses to stay silent any longer. The revolt that follows quickly grows from a spark into a blaze. Rallying an army made up of ordinary people, the peasant stands up to the power of the crown. This is not merely an act of defiance but a desperate struggle for justice and for survival itself. Written and directed by Paul Greengrass, this 128-minute 2026 historical action drama stars Andrew Garfield, Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Woody Norman and Tom Hollander.
