Oldboy

A closer look at the story

Oh Dae-su is an ordinary man until the day he wakes up locked in a small room with no windows. He has no idea who put him there or why, and his only link to the outside world is a television set. Fifteen years later he is released just as inexplicably, with one question burning in his mind: who did this to him, and for what reason? His search, in which a young woman called Mi-do becomes involved, leads him somewhere increasingly dark. Directed by Park Chan-wook, who wrote it with Hwang Jo-yoon and Im Joon-hyung, the 2003 film stars Choi Min-sik, Yoo Ji-tae and Kang Hye-jung in a mystery-driven revenge thriller with intense violence.
