Passions: Love and the supernatural in the town of Harmony

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Passions is an unusual American soap opera that combines romance with supernatural adventure. The series is about the lives, loves, romantic entanglements and paranormal experiences of the people who live in the town of Harmony. Its stories revolve around four core families from different backgrounds: the African American Russells, the white Cranes and Bennetts, and the Lopez-Fitzgeralds, who have Mexican and Irish roots. The relationships between these families form the dramatic backbone of the show. Life in Harmony is not just about love and family matters, however; supernatural forces are also at work in the town, chief among them the local witch, Tabitha Lenox. Created by James E. Reilly as an NBC Studios production, the series aired on NBC from 5 July 1999 to 7 September 2007. The satellite service DirecTV then continued it on its own channel, The 101, but in December 2007 it decided not to renew the deal, and the final episode aired on 7 August 2008. The series featured Lindsay Hartley, Juliet Mills, Kim Johnston Ulrich, McKenzie Westmore and Galen Gering.
