Drive: A stuntman and getaway driver forced into a dangerous choice

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Drive follows an expert behind the wheel who is known only as Driver. By day he is a sought-after stunt driver in Hollywood; by night he earns extra money driving getaway cars for criminals. He keeps his feelings to himself and shows the world a cold, unreadable face, yet lately he has been drawing closer to Irene, the woman next door, and her little boy, Benicio. That closeness grows complicated once Irene's husband is released from prison and asks Driver to help him pull off a robbery worth a million dollars. The job goes wrong in the worst way and events spin out of control. Driver now has no choice but to put his own life on the line to shield Irene and Benicio from the people behind the heist, who are out for revenge. Nicolas Winding Refn directed this 100-minute crime thriller from 2011, which Hossein Amini adapted from James Sallis's novel. Ryan Gosling plays Driver and Carey Mulligan plays Irene, with Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks and Oscar Isaac in supporting roles.
