A closer look at the story

Farhan, Raju and Rancho meet at one of India's most prestigious engineering colleges, and they could hardly be more different. Farhan enrolled to satisfy his family but really wants to be a photographer, while Raju studies anxiously in the hope of lifting his poor family out of hardship. Rancho is something else altogether: an eccentric, brilliant student who challenges rules and rote learning at every turn, which puts him on a collision course with the college's rigid director, nicknamed Virus. Years later, Farhan and Raju set out to find the friend who vanished from their lives. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and adapted from Chetan Bhagat's novel, the 2009 film stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor Khan in a comedy-drama about education, friendship and following your own path.
