The Imitation Game: A code-breaking race that changed a war

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Based on a true story, the film centres on the mathematician and cryptanalyst Alan Turing. During the darkest days of the Second World War, Turing joins a team of brilliant minds gathered at Bletchley Park, Britain's secret code-breaking centre, and races against time to crack Germany's supposedly unbreakable Enigma cipher. His wartime work is told alongside a police investigation that begins years later, in 1952, after a reported burglary at his home. Directed by Morten Tyldum from a screenplay by Graham Moore, the 113-minute 2014 film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode in a biographical drama about genius, secrecy and the cost of isolation.
