The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

A closer look at the story

Comedian and improv performer Stephen Colbert steps into a new era of late-night television with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Leaving behind the persona he played on his previous show, The Colbert Report, Colbert now appears before his guests as himself. Bringing along his trademark satire and sense of humour, he welcomes guests from a wide range of fields in every episode: actors, athletes, politicians, comedians, artists and musicians. Conversations cover the latest and most talked-about subjects, from politics and entertainment to business, music and technology. The programme is recorded at the historic Ed Sullivan Theater in New York. On the musical side, bandleader Jon Batiste and his group Stay Human bring lively energy to the show. Launched on CBS in 2015 and running for 11 seasons, this talk show became a notable example of late-night programming that blends comedy with current affairs.
