Gladiator II

A closer look at the story

Years ago, Lucius watched as his own uncle caused the death of Maximus, a widely revered hero. Now Rome now belongs to cruel twin emperors who govern it with an iron fist. As the Empire pushes its borders outward, it loots every culture in its path and forces the survivors to fight for their lives in the arena. Lucius's homeland, too, falls to these conquests, and the young man ends up on the sands of the Colosseum as a gladiator. With fury in his heart and the fate of the Empire hanging in the balance, Lucius must search his own past for the strength and honour he needs to give Rome's glory back to its people. Ridley Scott directs from a David Scarpa script in this 148-minute 2024 epic action drama starring Paul Mescal, Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal and Connie Nielsen.
