Pinocchio: Unstrung

A closer look at the story

Pinocchio: Unstrung turns the beloved classic fairy tale into a dark horror story. Made by Geppetto, Pinocchio is a wooden puppet that appears to be magical. Geppetto introduces him to young James, in the hope that a friendship will form between them. Pinocchio, however, is an utterly naive creature who knows nothing about the world. What is more, he has a sinister Cricket at his side, steering him down a dark path. Under this influence, Pinocchio decides to wipe out everything he regards as "bad". His real goal is to become a real boy, and to do so he sets about carving himself into a new shape, piece by piece. A story that begins with an innocent toy soon becomes a violent crusade. Rhys Frake-Waterfield wrote and directed this take on Carlo Collodi's novel;, the 82-minute 2026 British horror film features Jude Evan Lloyd as the voice of Pinocchio, with Richard Brake and Cameron Bell also in the cast.
