Babylon

A closer look at the story

In late-1920s Los Angeles, the film world is going through one of the biggest upheavals in its history: the silent era is ending and the age of talking pictures is beginning. Babylon tells, on an epic scale, of the unbridled ambition and outrageous excess of Hollywood during this turbulent changeover. The film follows the rise and fall of a host of characters in an era of limitless decadence and debauchery. Among them are a much-talked-about star actor and a driven young hopeful who has her sights set on stardom. In a world that stretches from party halls to film sets, fame, passion and disappointment become entangled. From writer-director Damien Chazelle, the 189-minute 2022 film stars Diego Calva, Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Jovan Adepo and Jean Smart in a drama and comedy.
