Treasure Planet

A closer look at the story

Ever since he was small, Jim Hawkins has been fascinated by space adventures and by the legendary tale of Treasure Island. One day an old man who comes down from a spaceship near his home leaves Jim a mysterious item and asks him to keep it safe. It turns out to be a map showing the way to the fabled intergalactic hoard known as the "loot of a thousand worlds". Jim sets off on the voyage as a cabin boy aboard a space galleon. The ship's cook, the cyborg John Silver, teaches him how to cope with supernovas and space storms. Joined by colourful characters such as Captain Amelia, Doctor Doppler and B.E.N., the journey sweeps Jim into an adventure far bigger than he ever dreamed. Ron Clements and John Musker direct this adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel, a 96-minute 2002 science-fiction adventure animation voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emma Thompson and Martin Short.
