True Detective

A closer look at the story

True Detective is an anthology crime series that returns with a different story and a different set of characters each season. Moving across several timelines, its narrative builds dark tales in which the investigations expose not just crimes but also the personal and professional secrets of everyone involved, whether they stand inside the law or outside it. In the first story, Louisiana homicide detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart track a serial killer. The deeper the pursuit goes, the more tangled their own lives become, and years later, when the case is reopened, they find themselves on the other side of the interrogation table. An HBO show since 2014, created by Nic Pizzolatto and Issa López, it is a dark crime drama that has brought together names such as Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell and Mahershala Ali.
