A closer look at the story

Something unthinkable happens in the quiet town of Maybrook: every child in the same class but one disappears without a trace, on the same night and at precisely the same moment. The one child left behind and the questions that go unanswered plunge the town into deep fear and suspicion. As families search desperately for their children, the townspeople also try to work out who, or what, is behind the disappearances. The harder everyone looks for an explanation, the more the tension rises, and this seemingly ordinary small town turns into a dark place full of mystery. Written and directed by Zach Cregger, the 129-minute 2025 film stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich and Benedict Wong in a mystery horror.
