A closer look at the story
Matt Hagen grows up on the streets of Gotham and quickly becomes one of Hollywood's leading men. That dizzying ascent, however, is tragically cut short: because of what a local crime boss does, Matt is left horribly disfigured. With his team gone and his life in ruins, Matt turns as a last resort to an experimental, state-of-the-art treatment. The treatment works miraculously, and Matt's former appearance is restored. But the recovery comes at an unexpected price. The treatment gradually weakens Matt's hold on reality. Struggling to tell what is real from what is imagined, Matt decides to make those responsible pay and is pulled into a destructive, all-consuming spiral of vengeance. Directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, this 109-minute 2026 horror thriller stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, with Naomi Ackie and Max Minghella also in the cast.
