A closer look at the story

Howard Ratner is a charismatic New York jeweller who always has his eye on the next big score. He is also deeply in debt, and his creditors are never far behind. When a chance that could change his life overnight comes his way, Howard plunges into a series of ever riskier bets. In this frantic game he has to keep his business, his family and the enemies closing in on him from all sides in balance at once, and a single wrong move could cost him everything. With Kevin Garnett appearing as himself, the film moves at a breathless pace. Directed by Josh and Benny Safdie, who wrote it with Ronald Bronstein, the 136-minute 2019 film stars Adam Sandler, LaKeith Stanfield, Julia Fox and Idina Menzel in a tense crime thriller.
