The Hateful Eight

A closer look at the story

A few years after the Civil War, a stagecoach rattles through snowbound Wyoming carrying the bounty hunter John Ruth, known as "The Hangman", and his captive Daisy Domergue to the town of Red Rock, where she is to face justice. On the way two more strangers climb aboard: Major Marquis Warren, a notorious bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix, who claims to be Red Rock's new sheriff. A worsening blizzard forces the travellers to take refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stopover in a mountain pass, but it is not the owner who greets them, rather four other strangers. As the storm rages, a game of betrayal and lies begins, and the eight realise they may never make it to Red Rock. Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed this 188-minute 2015 film, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Walton Goggins in a tense western mystery.
