Shaolin Soccer
Shaolin Soccer: A team that takes kung fu onto the pitch
Original title: 少林足球
A closer look at the story
Sing, a young follower of Shaolin, has a brilliant idea: to combine kung fu with soccer. To make it happen, he tracks down his disheartened Shaolin brothers one by one and brings them together in a soccer team. Each brother has mastered a different fighting technique, and as they put their skills to use on the pitch, incredible goals and moves follow. Over time this unusual squad finds a genuine team spirit. Directed by and starring Stephen Chow, this 113-minute 2001 Hong Kong action comedy also features Ng Man-Tat and Zhao Wei.
