Polizeiruf 110

A closer look at the story

Polizeiruf 110 is a German-language detective series that has stayed on screen for many decades. It premiered in East Germany, then the German Democratic Republic, on 27 June 1971. Polizeiruf 110 was in fact conceived as an answer to Tatort, West Germany's famous crime series, and it quickly became one of the public's favourite programmes. After East German television, Fernsehen der DDR, was dissolved, the series was taken over by ARD and carried on. Detectives such as Peter Fuchs, Jürgen Hübner, Herbert Schmücke and Herbert Schneider are among the standout figures in the show's long history. Its cast over the years has included Peter Borgelt, Jürgen Frohriep, Jaecki Schwarz and Wolfgang Winkler.
