Survivor

A closer look at the story

Survivor is a reality competition in which contestants are dropped in a remote location far from the outside world and must get by there with very little. Divided into teams known as tribes, the participants try to stay alive using whatever nature provides and the scant supplies they have with them. Throughout the game, the tribes regularly go head-to-head in physical contests. Sometimes the prize is food or small comforts; sometimes it is something far more valuable: immunity. The tribe that fails to win immunity has to go to Tribal Council and vote one of its own members out of the game. That makes Survivor not just a test of physical endurance but also a social game in which alliances, strategy and powers of persuasion are decisive. The goal is to outlast everyone else and be the last one standing. Created by Charlie Parsons and Mark Burnett and broadcast on CBS since 2000, the show is hosted by Jeff Probst.
