Ninja Boy Rantaro

A closer look at the story

Ninja Boy Rantaro follows the cheerful adventures of three young apprentices training to become ninjas. Rantarō, Shinbei and Kirimaru are pupils at the Ninja Academy, the Ninja Gakuen. At this school, first-year students are called "Nintamas". The three friends' task is to learn everything a good ninja needs to know. Our heroes' attention, however, is often elsewhere. Making money, filling their stomachs and playing games all seem far more appealing to them than lessons. As a result, their ninja training is usually full of unexpected and comical incidents. The series follows the everyday adventures of these three lovable apprentices both at school and beyond. Created by Soubee Amako and airing on NHK since 1993, the anime casts Minami Takayama as Rantarō, Mayumi Tanaka as Kirimaru and Teiyu Ichiryusai as Shinbei.
