Full Metal Jacket: From boot camp to the streets of Hue

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Young Marine recruit Private Joker joins his fellow trainees at a brutal boot camp as they prepare for the Vietnam War. There the recruits' individuality is stripped away step by step and each of them is remade into a Marine shaped for combat. With his pragmatic, detached gaze, Joker watches the devastating effect this process has on those around him. After training, the war carries them to Vietnam and the bloody street fighting in the city of Hue. Adapted from Gustav Hasford's novel The Short-Timers and directed by Stanley Kubrick, the 117-minute 1987 film stars Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio, R. Lee Ermey and Adam Baldwin in a harrowing war drama.
